By Brenda Schultz

It is a genuine problem for so many people, as they become older their metabolism slows down and then suddenly weight does not stay off or you find yourself having to be extremely careful.

Once you realise that your metabolism has slowed down you can start looking at ways to ensure that you lose weight. You may not want to suddenly start running to lose weight - well the good news is that you do not have to.

All it takes time to think about what you can do to change little things and adding them all up will make a difference for you.

Be more aware of your weight and what now works for you and what does not work. When you put on weight and when you do not put on weight. The best way to do this is to track what you do every day for at least a full week. Start by taking your measurements and weight and keep a log of every single think you drink, eat and do physically. The following week, take measurements and weight again and this time decide what you can change for example:

Drink less coffee or tea - change your cup to half cup.

Drink more water with lemon or mint and less cool drink.

Drink no alcohol or drink half the amount for a week.

Eat no fried food; eat more salad, more vegetables etc.

Once again keep an accurate log of everything you do, eat and drink. Now for the final week, once you have taken your measurements and weight you no plan the week by following on with the changes from week two and in week 3 you go for walks, take up low impact core exercise, try do 30 minutes of exercise each day mix it so that you do some cardiovascular and a little bit of toning.

If you have not been able to lose weight and the changes you have made have not worked for you - you will have an accurate log to take to a Dietician who will use your log to work out exactly how many calories you are eating each day. The Nutritionist or Dietician aim to teach you to mix your food groups properly to get the best healthy lifestyle.

Basically you need to be eating less calories than you consume and unfortunately we do not realise that we consume more calories than we realise.

Learning to accept our bodies and then ensuring that we maintain a healthy lifestyle will ensure that we get the best out of our bodies. Brenda's Wize site http://www.healthwizesite.com is a general health and beauty site aimed to help you make the best of what you have.
